The UN Women Country Programme in South Africa is implemented in line with the national development priorities, as well as in the framework of the international commitments to gender equality, empowerment of women and women’s human rights, of which South Africa is signatory, including the UN Human Rights Treaties, such as CEDAW and Beijing Platform for Action. It is also aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Partnerships Framework. UN Women coordinates and promotes the UN system’s work in advancing gender equality and is co-chair of the Gender Theme Group. The South Africa Country Office works collaboratively with the Department of Women Youth and Persons with Disabilities, and other national stakeholders to advance the country’s priorities in eliminating violence against women and girls as stipulated in the Gender Based Violence and Femicide National Strategic Plan.
Reporting to GBV Programme Specialist, the GBV Programme Analyst contributes to the effective management of UN Women programmes in South Africa by providing substantive inputs to programme design, formulation, implementation and evaluation. The Programme Analyst facilitates the delivery of UN Women programmes by monitoring results achieved during implementation and ensuring appropriate application of systems and procedures and develops enhancements if necessary, working in close collaboration with the country office’s programme and operations team, UN Women personnel at regional and headquarters levels, Government officials, multi and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful programme implementation.
Scope of Work:
1. Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies for EVAW
2. Provide substantive technical support to the implementation and management of the GBV programme
3. Provide technical assistance and capacity development to project/programme partners
4. Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting of the programme/project
5. Provide substantive inputs to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies
6. Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts
7. The incumbent performs other duties as assigned within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
