Job Description
Result of Service
1. Social media management ensuring our online presence is active and professional, 2-3 social media posts per week (from 1 April to 31 October 2026); 2. Communication reports for EFI listing all activities and communication achievements including social media analytics, at the end of each month; 3. Participation in regular team meetings and ad-hoc meetings, weekly; 4. Functional and user-friendly digital archiving and filing system, 30 April 2026; 5. Communications SOP document and training materials, 17 April 2026; 6. Communication concept and roadmap (including stakeholder mapping, partnership framework, messaging) for fashion shop in collaboration with Vivienne Westwood, 30 April 2026; 7. Training workshops and follow-up advisory provide to project stakeholders, 29 May 2026; 8. Up-to-date catalogue of communication assets such as press releases, social media content, photos, videos, media coverage, and reports, continuing; 9. Press releases, invitations, and promotional materials, continuing; 10. Coordination the production and delivery of photo/video shooting; continuing; 11. Complete production of events from logistics, budgeting, to creative direction; continuing; 12. Supporting with other activities related to communication, visibility, events; continuing.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI) of the International Trade Centre (ITC) connects micro-entrepreneurs from the developing world to international and regional value chains. The Programme builds technical and managerial capacities of the communities and creates sustainable business linkages through social enterprises that run production and trade hubs. The four key stakeholder groups of this model are, consumers, buyers and businesses in the lifestyle sector, social enterprise running centralized production hubs and artisan micro-entrepreneurs grouped in legal entities. EFI follows a management logic based on Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) due diligence system encompassing a suite of tools to enable supply chain actors in the fashion value chain, to share principles of sustainable, fair, and just work for all. The project called Designing the Future, a Green and Inclusive Fashion Ecosystem for Kenya is funded by the Agency of the Italian Development Cooperation (AICS). The initiative seeks to increase competitiveness and participation of micro and small artisanal and design businesses from Kenya in the international, regional, national value chain of the fashion and lifestyle industry. It targets 2,500 direct beneficiaries, 65% of whom women and youth, from marginalized communities of artisans, micro-producers and design entrepreneurs. EFI is looking for a highly skilled communication adviser based in Kenya to be the main focal point coordinating all EFI’s communication activities. This position requires expertise in strategic planning, social media management, content creation, and event communications. The ideal candidate will ensure alignment with our organisations and values while driving impactful messaging across all platforms. Description of Duties/Responsibilities Under the overall guidance of the EFI Programme Manager and the direct supervision of the Project Coordinator, the incumbent will perform the following tasks: Social media communication: • Create and manage social media plans, ensuring consistent and engaging content across all • platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Vimeo, YouTube, EFI website). • Implement a social media calendar with planned posts. • Create captions and visuals that align with the organization’s tone. • Respond to audience comments and messages to build engagement. Content creation: • Plan and coordinate photoshoots and video production with creative teams. • Visit communities and project activities to capture stories and visuals. • Develop impact stories and case studies. • Coordinate the development of content for digital platforms, newsletters, and campaigns. • Ensure content aligns with brand guidelines and project requirements. • Review and edit content for quality and consistency before distribution. • Organize and maintain a library of visual and written assets for future use. Events: • Draft communication concepts and plans for key events. • Facilitate media partnerships. • Draft and distribute press releases, invitations, and promotional materials. • Coordinate with event organizers to ensure alignment with communication goals. • Manage event-related social media content and live updates. • Develop post-event reports highlighting communication outcomes. Capacity building and training: • Deliver targeted training on the Communications SOPs to key project stakeholders • Develop training materials (slides, guidelines, checklists). • Provide hands-on guidance and post-training support to ensure uptake and consistent application of communication processes. Knowledge management and reporting: • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for communications covering planning, approvals, implementation, reporting, and archiving. • Professional archiving and filing of all communication assets. • Organise and catalogue assets such as press releases, social media content, photos, videos, media coverage, and reports. • Monitor and report on social media performance (analytics, engagement). • Systematically report on communications activities during EFI and project team meetings. • Provide concise verbal and written updates highlighting progress, risks, and upcoming communication priorities. • Ensure alignment between programme delivery, visibility activities, and donor reporting requirements. Copyright Clause: The consultant has to ensure that she has obtained the necessary permissions with regard to intellectual property rights required to perform her services under this consultancy contract and for the subsequent dissemination by ITC in any form. Documentary proof is to be submitted to ITC. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the consultant shall request the prior written permission from ITC. Qualifications/special skills
• Undergraduate degree (BA/BSC or other) in communication, media or fashion/lifestyle field. • Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree. • 5 years of relevant experience in communication and media Skills • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. • Proficiency in digital tools for content creation and analytics. • Experience in coordinating creative teams and working with diverse stakeholders. • Experience covering training, workshops, or community development projects. • Proficiency in professional photo editing software. • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage respectfully with community members.
Languages
• Fluent knowledge of English. • Knowledge or local language / another UN language is an asset.
