Background:

UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) addresses gender equality and women’s empowerment challenges in the Asia-Pacific region, including deeply embedded discriminatory social norms and practices that perpetuate inequalities based on gender and other intersectional identities (e.g. ethnicity, class, region, age, disability, migratory status, and sexual orientation and gender identity, among others). The Regional Office works across the following areas: Governance and Inter-governmental support (including on Gender Statistics); Women’s Economic Empowerment (including Migration, Ending Violence Against Women; Women, Peace and Security; Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarian Action. Covering 42 countries within Asia and the Pacific, it exercises its triple mandate and functions i.e. Normative, Coordination and high-quality programming at a regional level and in support of UN Women’s offices and UN Country Teams in 24 countries across the region.

The UN Women Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) oversees and manages programming in programme presences, provides strategic guidance, technical support, and oversight to country and multi-country offices across the region. To ensure the organization remains fit-for-purpose, agile, and aligned with its strategic priorities, UN Women will undertake a functional and structural review across its Asia Pacific operations.

ROAP is looking for a senior consultant to provide executive coaching, in support of the Senior Managers in the Region in leading offices and teams with feminist leadership.  The senior consultant will work under the overall guidance of the Regional Director, and day-to-day operational oversight from the Regional HR Business Partner.

Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work

  • The consultant is expected to provide executive coaching sessions (usually one-hour per session) to Senior Managers in the Region, during a period of 12 months.
  • Through these coaching sessions, support is provided to the Senior Managers in managing their offices and teams transitions and at the time of change.

Retainer Contract
Under this retainer contract, the consultant will be contacted by UN Women for specific assignments, which the consultant may accept or decline to take. A rate will be agreed per coaching session (one hour) in the retainer contract in line with relevant UN Women policies. In discussion with the consultant, the number of coaching sessions is to be determined solely by UN Women. UN Women does not warrant that all coaching sessions in this contract will be purchased during the period of contract. The payment will be based on the actual sessions delivered.

Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel
This is a home-based consultancy. As part of this assignment, the consultant may be required to travel. All travel will be arranged by UN Women following UN Women’s Travel Policy.

Functional Competencies:

•     Knowledge of United Nations and UN Women rules and regulations;
•     Analytical skills on issues related to gender, the economy and poverty reduction; 
•     Ability to work harmoniously in an international and multicultural environment.

Required Qualifications :

Education and Certification:    

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in human resources management/organizational development, business administration, public administration, change management or related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in managing human resources and/or change management processes is required.
  • Experiences in Organizational Design and Development will be a significant advantage.
  • Experience in management consulting, especially with the UN system or public sector, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with UN Women or UNDP HR and Administrative policies is an advantage.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of any other UN official language is an asset
