The Caribbean Development Bank (CDB/the Bank) is seeking to recruit an Intern, Independent Evaluation.
THE DEPARTMENT or DIVISION
The Office of Independent Evaluation (OIE) is an independent office of the Bank, reporting to the Board of Directors through the Development Effectiveness Committee (DEC). It has a mandate to evaluate the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) development performance, assessing outcomes and impact in Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs). The main products are country strategy programme, thematic, policy, and corporate process evaluations, as well as validation of Project Completion Reports prepared by the Operations Department. The work of OIE contributes to learning lessons for the improvement of the Bank’s operations and policies, the sharing of evaluative knowledge, and fostering networks of Caribbean evaluators, including through related conferences or events.
ROLE
The OIE will organize and deliver, in early September 2026, the inaugural Caribbean Evaluation event in the region for evaluation, the Caribbean Evaluation Week (CEW). The OIE is pooling human resources of its own and from CDB’s communication department to conduct the CEW in a cost-effective way. As a result, in addition to existing and new staff, and consultants for the event, the intern will represent at the same time an invaluable dedicated resource to support the OIE and acquire familiarity with the broader work of the Bank by having a high-exposure opportunity to contribute and learn on evaluation and related events and networks, in line with OIE’s vision to build a new generation of Caribbean leaders in evaluation and Monitoring and Evaluation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
The intern will report overall to the Head of Evaluation, and on a day-to-day basis to the OIE staff assigned to organizing the CEW and the related study, and the Evaluation, Research, and Knowledge Management Assistant. By delivering on the above, the intern will contribute to implementing OIE’s 2026 work Programme.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law, business administration, international relations, public policy, international studies, or governance; or a related discipline, in an accredited tertiary level educational institution, or a recent graduate from a Bachelor’s programme (not more than 12 months).
COMPETENCIES
LOCATION, DURATION AND TIMING
The assignment will be based at CDB’s headquarters in St. Michael, Barbados over a 3-month period commencing on June 1, 2026 and ending on August 31, 2026.
