Duties and Responsibilities
The internship is based in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Section within the Programme Support and Management Service (PSMS) of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). The Intern will work under the supervision of the ERP Team and collaborate with internal clients and counterparts across headquarters and field operations, gaining exposure to digital transformation initiatives and enterprise systems that underpin the effective delivery of OHCHR’s human rights mandate worldwide. The Intern will support the work of the ERP Section by contributing to administrative coordination, data management, and stakeholder communication related to ERP-enabled business processes. The internship provides practical learning opportunity at the intersection of digital transformation, enterprise resource planning, and operational support for human rights programmes. Under the guidance of the supervisor, the Intern will undertake the following responsibilities: Administrative and Operational Support • Support day-to-day administrative and operational activities related to ERP initiatives. • Respond to routine requests for information and assistance from internal stakeholders. • Maintain organized filing, tracking systems and support document archiving in line with established procedures. Document and Process Support • Review and verify documentation for accuracy and completeness in support of ERP role-mapping and access management processes. • Ensure proper classification, filing, and storage of documents and records. Communication and Coordination • Draft routine correspondence and liaise with other sections to gather and consolidate information related to ERP and operational processes. • Take minutes during meetings, summarize key decisions and actions, and ensure timely circulation. Data Management, Reporting, and Knowledge Sharing • Support the maintenance of dashboards and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data. • Compile information and contribute to the preparation of periodic reports and draft PowerPoint presentations supporting management decision-making. • Update and maintain content on the ERPMS intranet page to facilitate knowledge sharing and transparency. Other Responsibilities • Perform other related duties as required by the ERP Section in support of ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
Qualifications/special skills
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). No prior professional work experience is required for this internship. However, familiarity with data management, process analysis, administrative support, or information systems is considered an asset. Applicants should demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and effective written and verbal communication abilities. The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment is essential. Desirable technical competencies include proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as exposure to data entry, basic reporting tools, and introductory use of AI-enabled applications to support administrative or analytical tasks.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
