Org. Setting and Reporting
UNRWA is a United Nations agency established by the General Assembly in 1949 and is mandated to provide assistance and protection to a population of some 5.8 million registered Palestine refugees. Its mission is to help Palestine refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, West Bank and the Gaza Strip to achieve their full potential in human development, pending a just solution to their plight. UNRWA's services encompass education, health care, relief and social services, camp infrastructure and improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is the largest UN operation in the Middle East with more than 30,000 staff. UNRWA is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions. The candidate's role will be to supervise and ensure that teachers are using digital education effectively and of good good-quality outputs. • Title of Supervisor: Deputy Chief Field Education Programme (Technical). • Title of Supervisee/s: None • Working conditions: Office environment with access to telephone, PC and other automation equipment, internet, and intranet. Some local travel may be required.
Responsibilities
• Support the implementation of digital blended learning strategies and initiatives in UNRWA Schools, in close coordination with the Education team at HQA: - Supports the implementation with education stakeholders in the field, on digital education instruments including but not limited to digital pedagogy competency framework for teachers, digital education leadership framework for school principals, education technical instructions, policies and strategies, to ensure that they are grounded in the field of operation context. - Ensure that digital learning models implemented at school level are in alignment with global best practices in digital pedagogy. - Collaborates with the relevant education staff, and education team in HQA, in the design and implementation of effective blended and online learning experiences at school level. - Collaborates with subject matter experts to update digital resources that align with curriculum standards and best practices, and to evaluate digital learning resources and materials. - Supports the development and the implementation of digital assessment tools and methods to monitor the digital pedagogy practices in alignment with the curriculum standards, and measure student academic progress and performance. - Explore potential partnership with third party content providers to improve the scope and availability of relevant digital teaching and learning resources for the schools in the field. • Capacity building: - Leads the development and the implementation of capacity building in digital pedagogy and digital leadership respectively for teachers and school principals and deputies and collects feedback to inform the review of the digital education frameworks and capacity building packages for teachers and school principals and deputies - Establishes a monitoring mechanism to regularly assess the implementation and impact of digital integration, identify areas for improvement, and ensure continuous alignment with educational objectives and UNRWA’s standards. - Provides ongoing support and professional development to enhance teachers' digital pedagogy practices, to ensure effective integration of digital tools and resources in teaching and learning processes, based on the results of the monitoring mechanisms. • Knowledge management and exchange: - Identifies best practices in the digitalization of education to ensure that the integration of digital tools, platforms, and resources effectively enhances teaching and learning processes., document lessons learned from in-school implementation of blended learning initiatives. - Facilitates knowledge sharing and collaboration across schools, and document good practices at field and school level. - Continuously reviews and promotes innovative and evidence-based digital pedagogical approaches that align with UNRWA’s educational objectives and standards. - Stays abreast of emerging trends and technologies in digital education to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of innovation. • Monitoring and evaluation - Supports the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of digital learning initiatives. - Ensure accurate data is collected from stakeholders to inform the effectiveness of digital education initiatives in schools. - Contributes by providing inputs to reporting against the operational plan of the ICT4E strategy, and reports to project donors and partners as required, and on the state of digital education in UNRWA in general. • Performs such other relevant duties necessary to the sound implementation of the overall ICT4E strategy and the education program in general, as may be assigned.

Work Experience
• You are required to have at least 3 years of professional experience working in digital education, particularly in digital learning resources and materials, and in the implementation of capacity building for in-service teachers • You are required to have a strong knowledge of digital teaching and learning tools, educational technologies, and digital learning management systems • You are required to proven experience in the design and implementation of capacity building for teachers in service, preferably in digital education or similar areas • You are required to have an experience with emerging technologies in the context of education (e.g. AI in education, gamification, etc.). • You are required to have an excellent knowledge of MS-Office and Microsoft for the education ecosystem • You are required to have a first university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in digital transformation in education, or digital education, educational technologies, or related field. • Are you currently residing in Duty Station. It is required that you specify your current location. • Candidates are required to make a declaration as to whether they have any current or past affiliations with non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, political organizations, military, or have/are engaged in activities or have made any public statements, that could be seen to impact their neutrality, objectivity or independence in the performance of their duties for the UN / UNRWA. Assessment
- During the assessment, the applications will be given preference based on the following desirable qualifications: • Knowledge of Palestine refugees and/or humanitarian response and development in Jordan Field. • Experience in the delivery of educational services in UNRWA schools, including during emergency times • Previous experience working as a teacher with proven experience in digital education • Outstanding communication skills, with excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic. • At least 5 years of professional experience working in digital education, particularly in digital learning resources and materials and in the implementation of capacity building for in-service teachers - The shortlisted candidates will be afterward evaluated based on: • Technical Test • Competency-based Interview Candidates who meet the post requirements and the required language level will be considered for the ongoing competitive process. - To ensure alignment with the UN language levels, please refer to the guidance below: Level I: Basic knowledge of English. Special Notice
Type of Contract: Limited Duration Contract (LDC), Band F. The Limited Duration Contract applies to external candidates and UNRWA internal candidates.
