UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI) is a flagship continental programme jointly implemented by UN Women, the African Union Commission and the International Telecommunication Union, with support from UNECA, UNESCO and UNICEF, to close the digital gender gap. Phase IV of AGCCI aligns with UN Women’s priorities on digital inclusion, skills development and women’s leadership by equipping adolescent girls and young women with coding, digital literacy and mentorship while supporting governments to mainstream gender-responsive ICT education. In Uganda, implementation requires strengthened coordination with the Ministries of Education, ICT and National Guidance, Gender, Labour and Social Development, local governments and training institutions.
The assignment is guided by these priorities to support effective coordination, implementation and operational continuity, contributing directly to AGCCI Phase IV outcomes on expanded access to digital skills, strengthened institutional coordination and sustainable pathways for girls and young women in the digital economy.
The consultant will report directly to the Deputy Country Representative responsible for coordinating the program portfolio which includes coordinating relationships with national partners and stakeholders, and the monitoring and reporting, and the finances.

This is an office‑based consultancy based at the UN Women Moroto Sub‑Office in Northeastern Uganda. The assignment will involve intermittent official travel to AGCCI project districts to support implementation, coordination, and monitoring activities.
