Result of Service
Deliverable A: Technical content for CBRN incident awareness, identification, prevention, and response training slide decks. Deliverable B: Deliver and support a maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report on the exercise to improve the first VBSS training in Indonesia Deliverable C: Deliver and support a maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report on the exercise to improve the VBSS training at in Nigeria. Deliverable D: Deliver and support a maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report on the exercise to improve the VBSS training in Seychelles. Deliverable E: Deliver and support the R/N component of maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report in Maldives. Deliverable F: Deliver and support a maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report on the exercise to improve the second VBSS training in Indonesia.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision and regular liaison with the Programme Officer (Mediterranean and Black Sea Region) the expert will perform the following tasks: 1. Provide technical input for CBRN and VBSS training slide decks, covering awareness, identification, prevention, and response strategies. 2. Deliver and support a maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report on the exercise to improve the first VBSS training in Indonesia. 3. Deliver and support a maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report on the exercise to improve the VBSS training at in Nigeria 4. Deliver and support a maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report on the exercise to improve the VBSS training in Seychelles 5. Deliver and support a maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report on the exercise to improve the second VBSS training in Indonesia. 6. Deliver and support the R/N component of maritime law enforcement exercise including submission of a report in Maldives.
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in the fields of law, criminology, public administration, political science, international relations or related field is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of 7 years relevant maritime law enforcement experience is required. Experience of training in an international environment with experience in training maritime law enforcement officers required. Proven experience in use and deployment of CBRN detection equipment is required. A broad understanding of the maritime situation in the Pacific and Atlantic Region is desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills including demonstrated tact in inter-cultural communication is desirable. Proven experience in dealing with national and regional counterparts from various cultural backgrounds is desirable. Previous work experience with the UN or other International Organizations is desirable. Experience working with international organizations in developing training modules/curriculum is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
