Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Operations in Gaza OPT and the direct supervision of the Technical Advisor Shelter/NFI, the incumbent will support the administrative, Technical and operational functions of the shelter team and participate in coordination efforts to facilitate the smooth shelter activities and liaising with the different units within the Gaza OPT as well as related units within the country mission and the region.
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities.
Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics.
Act as focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, involving extensive liaison with diverse organizational units and implememting parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc.
Follow up with implementing partnets in progress of work, document challenges etc.
Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentation and other forms of documentation.
Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organize meetings, workshops and training sessions;
Create tracking systems for shelter activities.
Collaborate and coordinate with partner NGOs (national and international), clusters specially the shelter cluster, and other relevant stakeholders;
Support in the preparation of technical drawings and BOQs for shelter activities as instructed by the supervisor.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architecture or related fields from an accredited academic institution with 3 years of relevant experience or
High School diploma with five years of relevant working experience;
Relevant experience in management of implementing partners is an advantage.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience
Experience in liaising with national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups;
Experience in liaison with different partners to handle requests and queries from senior managers.
Experience in working in humanitarian responses and the OCHA-led cluster system is an advantage.
Prior experience in 3D Max, AutoCAD and Sketchup.
Skills
Working knowledge of office equipment.
Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
Languages
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Desirable: Working knowledge in Arabic.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.
