UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a contract within the Private Sector Partnerships Services in our Office in Paris, France.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights, and building a better future for refugees, forcibly displaced communities, and stateless people. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are forced to flee their homes to escape conflict and persecution. We are in over 130 countries, using our expertise to protect and care for millions. UNHCR is almost entirely funded by voluntary contributions from governments and private donors.

UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) plays a crucial role in helping expand the organization’s funding base, while ensuring a sustainable and predictable stream of income.

Although currently representing a small portion of UNHCR’s overall revenues, the contribution from the private sector is nonetheless significant and rapidly increasing.

Since 2015 in France, Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) supporters and donor’s portfolio have significantly grown, and PSP France aims to keep building on the PPH programs and network to cultivate and secure strategic private sector partnerships for UNHCR.

Organizational context:

The Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services works in different regions: Europe, MENA, Americas, Africa, and Asia, and further decentralizes at local levels. The Senior Fundraising Assistant (PPH) is part of the PSP France team and is based in the UNHCR Office located in Paris in France.

The position:

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive team player, who is able to work independently as well, with a strong interest in fundraising, to become a steady and reliable asset to the UNHCR France operation within PSP Europe.

Under the supervision of the Snr PPH Associate in Paris, the Senior Fundraising Assistant (PPH) will play a key role in the further increase of private sector fundraising income in France and Monaco, cultivating existing partners and securing new strategic accounts.

Based on PSP Global strategy, s/he will be dedicated to Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) fundraising: corporates, corporate foundations, HWNI and private foundations in France and Monaco. S/he will be mainly responsible for developing and engaging a portfolio of philanthropists through the creation of tailored content, the organization of events and bilaterals, and high-quality relationship management.

Duties and responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the Snr PPH Associate, the main tasks and responsibilities of the Senior Fundraising Assistant (PPH) will be to:

• Manage a full prospect pipeline, including commissioning or performing prospect research, attend events and build on UNHCR France relationship with philanthropists’ network in France and in Monaco;
• Develop brand-compliant reports, proposals and pitches for existing and new PPH partners and donors;
• Develop appropriate cultivation plan and work on stewardship materials to retain PSP France existing supporters. Develop in collaboration with IG and digital colleagues a dedicated cultivation and upgrade approach for major donors and middle donors;
• Communicate accurate and timely information on UNHCR's programs and activities, in conformity with the organization’s financial needs and priorities, to prospective and current donors;
• Work within UNHCR’s due diligence screening policy and processes for PPH partnerships and work closely with colleagues at HQ and in the region to mutualize resources and test and learn on strategic approach, segmentation, etc.;
• Support the implementation of UNHCR campaigns, including local and global UNHCR campaigns for PPH donors;
• Develop and ensure an appropriate strategic and tactical response to PPH prospects in the event of humanitarian emergencies and outside emergencies;
• Keep aware of the fundraising and business environment and proactively develop new opportunities for UNHCR in France and explore new model of partnerships (e.g. faith-based fundraising);
• Build on a strong collaboration with PSP teams – HQ and within the regions – as well as with the Representation in France including external relations and protection;
• Perform any other tasks as required.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required:

The ideal candidate will be required to have:

• Completion of secondary education (high school diploma) preferably with UNESCO accredited university degree (considered as an asset) in Business/Marketing, Communication, International relations, or a related discipline;
• Minimum 2 years of previous working experience relevant to the function or minimum 1 year of relevant working experience with a Bachelor’s or higher degree;
• Private sector fundraising experience with corporates and foundations in a not-for-profit organization or an international organization or a marketing/fundraising consultancy would be an asset;
• Knowledge in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR), marketing or communication/advocacy;
• Current knowledge of private sector fundraising techniques;
• Experience in developing a corporate partnership and foundations grant programs;
• Proven ability to deal with multiple tasks in a courteous and service-oriented manner in a demanding working condition that often functions on short-term deadlines;
• Good knowledge of the French private sector landscape;
• Proven track record of securing a new corporate/NGO partnerships that he/she was personally responsible for identifying and soliciting;
• Excellent analytical skills and strong communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written);
• A good communicator with interpersonal skills to deal with persons of different cultural and educational backgrounds;
• Excellent computer skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
• Working experience with an INGO in the humanitarian field is an asset;
• Fluency in French and English are essential (spoken and written).

Conditions:

The successful candidate will be based with the team in UNHCR’s office in Paris, France.

The position is associated with a yearly contract, valid until end of the year, with possibility of renewal on a yearly basis. It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).

The salary is in line with the local UN (General Service) GS Salary scale.
