Ensures the smooth and effective collection of Security Threat Information (STI) and disseminate relevant information through the appropriate channels to the relevant mission stakeholders to facilitate timely operational response to security related incidents. Also expected to keep the Unit data updated for promptly retrieval of information for informed decision making. Establish a good rapport with the local authorities.

Duties and Responsibilities
Within limits of delegated authority and under the guidance and supervision of the Security Information Analyst, the incumbent will be responsible to carry out the following duties and responsibilities: • Assist in gathering comprehensive information about events or actions that may affect the security of UN staff and assets of the mission. • Assist in disseminating preventive security information to UN personnel within the mission. • Assist in providing the mission senior management with Security Threat information (STI) and advice. • Assist the Security Analyst in conducting risk analysis and threat assessments. • Assist in maintaining continuity of security information gathering efforts. • Assist in monitoring daily situation reports, military contingent reports, police reports, local news, international news, and verbal updates from the AoR for security related information of interest to the primary mission of SICU. • Assist in providing input for situation reports. • Assist in maintaining the security incident database. • Assist in monitoring the mission-wide security after hours. • Assist in providing mission-wide security briefings to senior UN staff and visiting VIPs. • Assist in providing periodic security brief for incoming UN personnel. • Assisting to coordinate UN Security Crisis response as directed by the CSO.
Qualifications/special skills
High School or equivalent diploma is required. At least one (1) year of progressive experience with the UN or local, national or private police, security, fire brigade organization or previous operational, administrative occupation/employment is required. At least Two (2) year experience in UN Security operations and coordination is desirable. Proficiency in the use of computers, scanners, digital senders and other security related equipment. Good computer skills and knowledge of other special security equipment. Understands applicability and limitations of technology to the work of the office. Good interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity. Maintain good relationship with different sections.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English, Arabic and Dinka is required.
