There’s something special about spending your days alongside like-minded people, just as committed to purposeful work as you. At Save the Children Australia, we attract bright and big-hearted people who are inspired to make a difference. Together, we are fearless in our pursuit of making lasting change for the children and communities who need it most.
A place to make a difference:
In this full-time permanent role, you’ll work as part of our People & Culture team, ideally from our Melbourne head office (although other locations in Australia will also be considered), to help us create lasting change for children everywhere.
The P&C Advisor supports our vision for children by providing HR and ER advice across a broad portfolio, partnering with senior P&C leaders and managers to build leadership capability, enhance employee experience, and drive continuous improvement across people practices, systems and policies.
You will make a difference by:
· Delivering practical HR guidance, support leaders on people processes, and escalate complex matters appropriately.
· Managing low–moderate ER issues, assist with interpreting industrial instruments, and support compliance and reporting activities.
· Building leader capability through performance management support, development planning, and people‑management tools.
· Promoting a positive, safe and inclusive culture, connecting teams with wellbeing resources and engagement initiatives.
· Contributing to policy development, system improvements, data integrity and continuous improvement across P&C operations.
· Supporting organisational projects, collaborate with internal SMEs, assist with change and design activities, and foster a cohesive, solutions‑focused P&C team culture.
A place to feel valued:
Your HR expertise in providing reliable and practical advice to people managers, supporting them to improve workforce outcomes, manage risks, strengthen team culture, and build capability is invaluable.
This role requires:
· Strong HR generalist capability, including contemporary HR practices, employment legislation, awards/EBAs, ER/IR frameworks and HRIS systems.
· Proven experience (4+ years) supporting low–moderate complexity people matters, exercising sound judgement, confidentiality and appropriate escalation.
· Well‑developed analytical, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to interpret data, assess risk and produce clear, accurate advice and documentation.
· Ability to build effective stakeholder relationships, work independently in fast‑paced or multi‑site environments, and adapt to change initiatives and project work.
· Demonstrated professionalism, ethical conduct and alignment with organisational values, with tertiary HR qualifications desirable.
A place to belong:
We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team. We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation, and offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:
· Opportunity to work on additional projects to enable you to stretch and feel connected to programs in a different way
· Individual learning plans to help map and deliver on your career development.
· A modern, up to date working space. Or the opportunity to work from home (WFH), or both!
· Support for workplace wellness, including access to our free, confidential Employee Wellbeing Program
