UNDSS in Gaza is supporting the UN Agencies and International Non-Governmental organizations (INGOs) and International Organisations (IOs) so as to enable them to conduct their operations in the safest way possible.
The positions are locally administered by UNDP but financed by the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) from the USAID grant. The duration of the positions for one year. The contracts may be extended subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and a continuing need for the posts.
Closely working with the UNDSS Gaza team, the driver provides driving services to Gaza office staff, consultants, experts and UN staff on mission from within UNDSS and other collaborating partners or sister UN Agencies.
The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will undertake the following functions:
1)Provide reliable and secure driving services using armoured vehicles for UNDSS Gaza Office to programmes and operations staff, experts and consultants, and UN officials and visitors:
2)Ensure cost-saving through proper use and day-to-day maintenance of the assigned armoured vehicle.
3)Ensure availability in the assigned vehicle of all the required documents, supplies, and necessary spare parts.
4)Take all immediate actions required by rules, regulations, and laws in case of involvement in accidents.
The incumbent performs any other duties agreed to within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Institutional Arrangement
Under the guidance of the Area Security Adviser and the supervision Field Security Coordination Officer, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work.
