Work Location
This internship is based in Geneva on a full-time basis. This internship is designed to be in-person but applications from those unable to travel to Geneva are also welcomed.
Expected duration
Full-time (40 hours per week) for 3-6 months, with desired start date of April 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities
The internship is located in the Public Information Office within the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM), Geneva, Switzerland. The Intern will have the opportunity to work closely with the Associate Public Information Officer and the Public Information Officer. The intern will contribute to outreach activities and developing content for social media, newsletters, and the website. The duties of the intern may include, but are not limited to: - Develop social media content. - Produce videos, infographics and other visual material. - Write content for social media, the website and newsletters. - Facilitate translation of texts, liaising with the translation team and make sure translations are requested and received timeously. - Take notes during relevant meetings, including sessions of the Human Rights Council. - Monitor relevant news and circulate daily press clippings. The Intern will report to the Public Information Officer within the Office of Head of Entity.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. Programme. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Experience in drafting news articles and social media posts in English is desirable. Experience in designing social media posts, including the use of design software is desirable. Experience in creating short videos or animations, including the use of video editing software is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required for this internship.
