BACKGROUND
This six-month internship aims to offer students and young professionals – currently undertaking undergraduate/post-graduate studies and recent graduates – with meaningful learning experience through practical on-the-job training in the workplace context of an international organisation for nature conservation. I

The intern is expected to assist with key functions of the IUCN Asia Regional Office (ARO) for i) outreach communications to key external stakeholders, and ii) support services in engaging with Members and other Union constituents. During the internship period, the intern will serve as a member of various ARO working teams in support of 2026 key events across the region.

This is a paid internship for in-office functions based at ARO in Bangkok.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The intern supports the stakeholder communications and membership services functions of the Regional Director’s Office (RDO), towards IUCN’s overall mission of sharing and promoting the use of science-driven knowledge and tools for nature conservation and sustainable use in the Asia region. The intern’s key responsibilities cover:
• Scope - Institutional communications and membership engagement
• Functions: i) communications support through IUCN Asia’s social media accounts, website, newsletter, annual report and other platforms, ii) provision of information and other support services to Members and Union constituents.

2. SPECIFIC DUTIES:
2.1 Outreach Communications
2.1.1 Drafting and editing social media content for Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
2.1.2 Designing visual materials and their graphics for publications and campaigns using Canva (Adobe Suite is a plus), including an annual report.
2.1.3 Drafting and uploading articles, blogs, and other written materials for newsletters and websites.
2.1.4 Creating visually appealing PowerPoint presentations for internal and external events.
2.1.5 Monitoring social media engagement and compiling analytics reports.

2.2 Membership Services:
2.2.1 Supporting outreach to IUCN Members in Asia, including updating contact lists and preparing engagement materials.
2.2.2 Organising webinars, meetings, and events for Members.
2.2.3 Drafting membership-related communications (emails, invitations, summaries).
2.2.4 Contributing to compiling Member updates and success stories for newsletters and reports.

Guidance and Mentoring:
Throughout the internship, the selected candidate will have an opportunity to learn about:
• IUCN's institutional mission, operations, Asia regional agenda and strategy contributing to IUCN Programme 2026-29;
• Institutional functions of the regional Secretariat;
• Policies and standards for stakeholder engagement, including for Members and Commissions; and,
• Communications strategy, style guide, branding and quality-assurance checks.
In performing the assigned duties, the intern will have the opportunity to interact with key units and teams at the Regional Office, throughout the region and with Headquarters. The intern will gain hands-on experience engaging with various stakeholders and implementing social media and visual communications strategy. The intern will receive constructive feedback on their performance from line managers.
REQUIREMENTS
• Currently registered in an academic institution, either as undergraduate student (has completed at least three school years of Bachelor’s programme) or as post-graduate student (Masters’ programme). Recent graduates, i.e. those who have obtained their academic degrees within the last two years, are also eligible to apply. Academic background in either or a combination of: i) communications and media, marketing, public relations, advertising, information/knowledge management and ii) biological, natural and social sciences relevant to environment and development.
• Proficiency in graphic/publication design tools (Canva is essential; Adobe Suite is an advantage).
• Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation.
• Ability to design professional PowerPoint presentations.
• Personal Attributes: Creative, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent command of English, especially strong writing and editing skills.
• Thai national and/or eligible to obtain relevant internship visa for Thailand.
