Title of Assignment:     Program Coordinator Consultant

Name of unit/sector:     Section for the Coordination of Developed Countries, Division for Transition and Developed Countries (TDC)

Place of Assignment:    WIPO Headquarters, Geneva

Expected duration of assignment:    March 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027

1.    Objective of the assignment

The Section for Coordination of Developed Countries (SCDC) in the Transition and Developed Countries Division (TDC) is focused on bringing the services of WIPO closer to stakeholders in developed countries and strengthening institutional ties with stakeholders therein.  In doing so, SCDC is increasingly focused on developing projects, focused on underserved stakeholders, such as women entrepreneurs, youth, migrants and traditional producers, among others.

The Consultant shall support the design, implementation, and delivery of effective projects and initiatives for the benefit of the stakeholders mentioned. This includes different tasks connected to production, post- production, promotion and evaluation of ongoing projects and initiatives, notably including providing IP support to young entrepreneurs in creative industries, facilitating a Scoping Analysis on IP & Social Economy,  the IP Management Clinic Programs for SMEs, the IP Lab for Startups: Blue Economy Edition, among others.

Moreover, the Consultant shall contribute to the launch of the pilot of WIPO PITCH initiative aimed at the promotion of WIPO services as a comprehensive and impactful collection in the countries concerned.

As part of the aforementioned tasks, the Consultant shall support the organization and management of a series of virtual and in person events, including support in digital platforms, pre and post-webinar communication with participants, along with detailed reporting and preparation of recommendations based on good practices. Additionally, the Consultant shall provide ad hoc technical and operational support to the Section, as required.

2.    Deliverables/Services

The Consultant shall deliver the following outputs on a results-based and time-bound basis:

a)    Manage the content and technical aspects of the projects and initiatives, engaging in internal and external coordination, preparation of documents, using various digital platforms approved for use by the Organization, drafting promotional items for social media, creating registration pages, pre- and post-event surveys and managing event participants; 

b)    Support stakeholder engagement with developed countries and strengthen cooperation, through projects, meetings, and other engagements; 

c)    Monitor and report on major developments of IP issues connected to the projects under preparation, propose initiatives in this respect;

d)    Contribute to the preparation of content and outreach activities in connection to the projects under preparation carried out by the SCDC;

e)    Support the Section in the preparation of briefs and other content for its diplomatic engagement with stakeholders from Member States.

3.    Reporting

The Consultant will report to the Head, Section for Coordination of Developed Countries.

4.    Profile (e.g. area of specialization/expertise, specific knowledge/skills/experience)

Education: University degree in law, business, communication, social sciences, literature and arts or related fields.

Experience: At least five years of professional experience on IP, at least two with United Nations/International environment and in particular:

(a)    Knowledge of intellectual property;
(b)    Excellent writing, editing and project management skills;
(c)    Experience in managing events in digital platforms:
(d)    Experience in producing IP-related content for a wide variety of digital products;
(e)    Sound creative sensibility, particularly with respect to visual communications;
(f)    Effective analytical and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work to a deadline in a fast-paced environment.

Competencies:

(a)    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
(b)    Competent user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the Internet applications.

Language:  Fluency in English is required.  Good knowledge of another official UN language spoken in the countries covered by the Section, is considered as an asset.

5.    Duration of contract and payment

The duration of the contract shall be from March 1, 2026, to February 28, 2027, inclusive.

Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations of a daily rate in Swiss francs.

Payment will be made on a monthly basis, subject to submission of invoices by the Consultant, satisfactory completion of services and deliverables.

6.    Other information

ICS Consultant fall outside the coverage of employment contracts for WIPO Staff members and are not subject to the WIPO Staff Regulations and Rules. The Consultant has no entitlement to vacation or sick leave, except for WIPO official holidays, or to medical insurance or staff pension. Absences from work will be deducted from the Consultant’s payment on a pro-rated basis.
