Background
NRC has been actively engaged in Shelter/CCCM/WASH sector in Yemen, with good presence in Lahj, Taiz, Marib and Abyan governorates, where conflict and repeated displacement continue to disrupt IDPs access to safe and quality living include Shelter and WASH facilities. The ongoing humanitarian crisis has left displaced population under-resourced, overcrowded, and vulnerable to future shocks. NRC’s Shelter/CCCM/WASH interventions in Lahj, Taiz, Marib and Abyan focus on restoring good quality living condition opportunities for crisis-affected displacement population, supporting community-based planning, and promoting inclusive and protective environments.
Shelter/WASH Assistant plays a key role in implementing NRC’s Shelter/CCCM/WASH strategy at the field level. This includes supporting camps improvement planning, disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives, and emergency preparedness in coordination with communities, and authorities. This position operates within an established Shelter/CCCM/WASH program and requires strong collaboration with internal teams (such as Protection, FSL and Education) as well as external actors, including local authorities and cluster partners.
As a key member of the Shelter/CCCM/WASH Team in Aden, the Shelter/WASH Assistant will coordinate, implement, and monitor project activities in line with NRC standards, ensuring effective delivery of Shelter, WASH, and CCCM interventions in targeted areas. This role emphasizes accountability to affected populations (AAP) by facilitating community mobilization, conducting needs assessments, and supporting hygiene promotion and site management messaging. The assistant will conduct regular site visits to identify gaps, assist in beneficiary identification, maintain accurate records, and collect community feedback, while serving as a frontline focal point for complaints and feedback. With a focus on safe and trusted channels for beneficiaries, this position strengthens service delivery and supports inclusive programming across all activities, undertaking additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Collect, analyze, and report project data to relevant officers.
Assist in development of holistic and needs-based programmes, including cash and market-based approaches.
