The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation comprised of 38 member countries, that works to build better policies for better lives. Our mission is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. Together with governments, policy makers and citizens, we work on establishing evidence-based international standards, and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges. From improving economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion, we provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best-practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard-setting.
The Multilateral Organisation Performance Assessment Network (MOPAN) is a dynamic network of 21 members who fund multilateral organisations and together share a common interest in strengthening the effectiveness of the multilateral system. Together, MOPAN members provide over USD 100 billion in annual contributions to and through the multilateral system – the majority of the system’s ODA funding. The network is supported by a Secretariat, hosted by the OECD, that carries out regularly and systematically, assessments of the effectiveness of multilateral organisations and cross-cutting insights. MOPAN assessments are used to meet accountability and due diligence requirements of governments, to inform strategic dialogue with multilateral organisations, and to generate knowledge to strengthen both the effectiveness of organisations and the overall effectiveness of the multilateral system.
How well do multilateral organisations understand, communicate and deliver on their value proposition? How well do they position themselves strategically to navigate rapidly evolving and unpredictably changing contexts, while fulfilling their core mandate? How well are they governed and managed? To what extent are they acting sustainably? How well are organizations engaging among themselves and with stakeholders, to address global issues in coordinated and meaningful fashion? These are some of the key questions that MOPAN engages on.
