Mission and objectives
Mission: To engage in research, advocacy, networking, partnerships and training to promote volunteerism. Objectives: (a) To enhance networking, partnerships and resource mobilization among member and non-member organizations, drawing from and impacting their experience in working with and through volunteers. (b) Provide a forum for activities that enhance and improve the profile of volunteerism in Kenya, including organizing the national volunteerism week , International Volunteer Day (IVD) celebrations, Volunteer of the Year Awards (VOYA) and International Volunteer Managers Day (IVMD) and other related activities in partnership with relevant stakeholders and disseminating information to the public. (c) To develop, research, gather, update and disseminate information on the contributions of volunteers and volunteer-involving organizations (VIOs) to the national economy. (d) To provide a common coordinating center for volunteers and volunteerism-related matters in Kenya.Context
The IAVE–IBM Reskilling Revolution Africa (RRA) – SkillsBuild Project is a multi-country initiative implemented across Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Africa to equip young people with in-demand digital and professional skills through the IBM SkillsBuild platform. The project targets over 35,000 learners, including university and TVET students, NEET youth, and adult job seekers, with a strong focus on gender inclusion. In kenya theproject is target 15,000 youth in 5 counties. Given the scale and multi-county nature of the project, a strong Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework is critical to track learner progress, assess project performance, inform adaptive management, and demonstrate impact to partners and stakeholders. Accurate data collection and analysis are essential for understanding learner engagement, completion rates, gender outcomes, and overall effectiveness of the intervention. The project is therefore seeking Online Volunteer Monitoring and Evaluation Officers to support data tracking, analysis, reporting, and learning. Volunteers will work closely with facilitators and project coordinators to strengthen evidence-based decision-making and ensure the project achieves its learning and employability outcomes.Task Description
The Monitoring and Evaluation volunteers will support the project team in tracking implementation progress and assessing learning outcomes across all target counties. Key responsibilities include: Supporting the implementation of the project’s M&E framework and indicators. Tracking learner enrollment, participation, course completion, and digital badge attainment. Collecting and organizing quantitative and qualitative data from facilitators and learners. Supporting the design and administration of simple surveys and feedback tools. Cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing data using basic M&E tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets). Producing weekly or monthly progress summaries and dashboards. Supporting gender and inclusion tracking, including disaggregation by sex, location, and learner category. Documenting success stories, lessons learned, and emerging challenges. Supporting learning reviews and contributing to continuous project improvement. Ensuring data accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical use of information.Competencies and values
