Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Section, the intern will contribute to the activities of the Information Unit in the following areas: - Designing engaging visuals – e.g. videos, animated clips, photo montage, quote cards, posters, infographics, brochures and other types of content – for use on social media and website - Daily media monitoring and dissemination of news about UNECE (all languages, all on-line media, use of Meltwater, Factiva and news searches on the web); Preparation of monthly and ad-hoc reports on the press coverage about UNECE that are distributed to senior management - Photo coverage of meetings and events - Drafting, scheduling and posting of content of UNECE accounts on X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube (including through Hootsuite social media management tool) - Preparing and distributing the UNECE weekly newsletters in English (via LinkedIn) - Assisting with research and fact checking, as well as drafting of news stories and other communications content The intern is expected to work in the office.
Qualifications/special skills
Education To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation. Be computer literate in standard software applications and have experience and background in graphic design and video editing; have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. Work Experience No professional work experience is required for participation in the internship programme.
Languages
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Fluency in another official UN language is desirable, preferably French or Russian.

Assessment Written test in English with practical communication-related tasks Work location: Selected intern is expected to work in the UNECE office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
