Duties and Responsibilities
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. The internship in the Division of Production, Productivity and Management will last 3 to 6 (2 min/6 max) months, depending on the needs of the Office. Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an "as-needed" basis. The intern will support the work of the Digital Transformation Unit, contributing to communication strategy implementation, event coordination, and knowledge-sharing activities. Tasks will include: • Assisting in the development and execution of communication strategies. • Supporting the organization of events, meetings, and working group sessions. • Drafting and designing communication materials, including newsletters, infographics, and reports. • Preparing presentations and visual content for internal and external audiences. • Providing research assistance on topics related to digital transformation, economic development, and regional cooperation. • Supporting the design and layout of publications and online materials.
Qualifications/special skills
(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) 1. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. 2. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. 3. Applicants must have basic knowledge or interest in the economics of science, technology and innovation and/or policy experience. 4. Ability to manipulate and analyse data is desirable. 5. Interest in the work of the United Nations is required. 6 Ability to work in a multicultural environment is required. 7. Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and ability to design visual presentations is desirable 8. Ability to draft communication materials is required 9. Knowledge of design software is desirable 10. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is required
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
Additional Information
The internship will provide hands-on experience in communications, event management, and research within an international organization, offering exposure to the processes of digital transformation policy and coordination.

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
