Position Title: International Accounting Manager
Position Classification: Regular, Exempt, Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Reports to: Director of Financial Planning & Analysis
Location: Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S. or a hybrid of these two options but must be able to work east coast hours (9am – 5pm ET). Up to 10% travel internationally expected.

Position Overview:
The International Accounting Manager will be a valuable member of the Partners In Health (PIH) Finance team in ensuring international accounting entries are accurate and timely and that global accounting teams are well supported and trained. The International Accounting Manager will work closely with the Financial Operations Manager in providing holistic oversight and accounting analysis for a portfolio of PIH sites.
Responsibilities:
75% International Care Delivery Site Accounting Support
  • Serve as the primary accounting liaison for international site finance teams, building strong relationships and providing guidance on accounting inquiries and processes.
  • Provide site backup accounting support and assist with ad hoc posting entries, as needed.
  • Review and analyze international sites’ income statements and balance sheets, on monthly basis, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of financial data.
  • Lead monthly close call meetings with international site finance team; identifying necessary corrections and ensuring they are completed. Conduct more detailed quarterly reviews to support audit readiness.
  • Perform quarterly spot checks to assess and strengthen financial procedures and internal controls.
  • Lead the collection and review of financial documentation from international sites in preparation for PIH’s consolidated audit, acting as the key accounting contact for PIH sites involved in donor audits and single audits.
  • For PIH sites that do not use PIH accounting system, review and upload Excel files into PIH accounting system, ensuring accuracy of the data.
25% Capacity Building and International Accounting Training
  • Support the Financial Operations Manager in evaluating global accounting team structures, policies, and processes to ensure adherence to GAAP accounting and PIH best practices.
  • Identify common challenges and opportunities for improvement across PIH, along with site-specific barriers and process improvements.
  • Design and deliver targeted trainings - both one-on-one and team trainings - for a single site or cross-site audiences, to address identified issues and capacity building.
  • Assist with ad hoc accounting requests and accounting process improvements.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited institution with 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • CPA or international equivalent preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statement review, including balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset management, and GAAP lease standards.
  • Experience with international accounting, including familiarity with IRFS and dual ledger accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or preparing for audits.
  • Previous experience working with or supporting international finance teams, especially in low-resource settings, preferred.
  • Experience with Serenic or Microsoft Navision preferred, or ability to learn new accounting system quickly, demonstrated from previous experience.
  • Advanced computer skills, including mastery of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to travel to PIH international locations up to 10% to support training and capacity building initiatives.

Pay and Benefits
The expected starting salary range for new hires in this position is between $80,000-85,000/year and may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position belongs to a class of roles that have a salary range between $70,000 and $95,000/year. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with automatic employer contribution, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability
insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents.
