The Position:
The Programme Associate, Data provides support to the Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) and members of her team. The Programme Associate will work closely with staff from the National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Department of National Planning and Monitoring (DNPM) as well as the UNFPA country office, providing backstopping, information-sharing and other support to ensure that the administrative, financial and reporting processes are followed.

Job Purpose:
UNFPA PNG is implementing a comprehensive data and population project that will involve new remote sensing population technologies to be used for the upcoming elections. The project will also address demand for data and data literacy. Other dimensions of the program include a demographic survey and the analysis of provincial level demographic data from an intergenerational perspective (demographic dividend).
Given the comprehensive nature of this project, the CTA will need the support of a motivated, ambitious Programme Associate with strong organizational and writing skills to help achieve the outputs envisaged in this project.
You will play an instrumental role in facilitating UNFPA’s country programme and project implementation, supporting design, planning and management, in the areas of population and development, reproductive health and gender.
You will apply established systems and procedures and assist in the creation of knowledge by compiling, synthesizing and analyzing relevant information, developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensuring compliance with procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Minimum High School Education. Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field is an asset
Training in economics, statistics, or demography desirable
Knowledge and Experience:

Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Knowledge of Tok Pisin/Motu is an asset
