Job Description
Org. Setting and Reporting
The post is located in the Conference Support Section (CSS), Organized Crime and Illicit Trafficking Branch (OCB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of a Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer and the general supervision of the Chief of the Section. Responsibilities
Within assigned authority, the incumbent will carry out a range of functions to facilitate and assist the preparation of written documents of the review process of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and the Protocols thereto. In particular, the incumbent will perform the following specific duties: • Contribute to the servicing of the Conference of the Parties and its Working Groups, as required, in particular those related to the review mechanism of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC), service joint intersessional meetings for the purpose of the repetition of the drawing of lots and the constructive dialogues held after the sessions of the working groups. • Contribute to the preparation of documentation related to the Review Mechanism. • Support States parties in the review process through, inter alia, facilitating consultations and the dialogue between reviewed and reviewing States, such as facilitating consultation on the establishment of timeframes and the requirements of the desk review. • Contribute to the planning, organization and delivery of capacity-building activities, such as training workshops, focused on the implementation of the review process of the mechanism for reviewing the implementation of UNTOC and its Protocols, as well as the filling of self-assessment questionnaires. • Participate in the information-gathering process of the review mechanism, including through RevMOD, the online platform to conduct country reviews. • Participate in the monitoring, advocacy and fundraising of the Global Programme to support the UNTOC review mechanism. • Draft and prepare briefing notes, talking points, speaking notes, speeches and provide support in the coordination of a variety of inputs on UNTOC and its Protocols for senior management and/or Member States. • Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting. • Perform other work-related duties as required.

Has knowledge of various research methodologies and sources, including electronic sources on the internet, intranet and other databases. Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law or international law is required. A first level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A first-level university degree and no experience will be accepted for candidates who have passed the Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P).

Work Experience
A minimum of two years of work experience in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice at the international level, including on transnational organized crime OR the successful completion of the Young Professionals Programme Examination (YPP), the United Nations National Competitive Recruitment Examination (NCRE) or the General Service to Professional Examination (G to P), is required. Experience in supporting intergovernmental processes or servicing intergovernmental bodies is desirable. Experience in providing legislative assistance is desirable. Work experience within the United Nations system or similar international organizations is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required.
