Job Description
Result of Service
The overall coordination and implementation of ongoing projects implemented by UNODC GPCAE in West and Central Africa is supported. This recruitment is undertaken under the framework of the project “Improve national capacities to address emerging cross-border threats to security and stability in northern border areas in Côte d'Ivoire”, funded by the U.S. State Department (Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs).

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of UNODC Regional Programme Coordinator for West and Central Africa and Senior Regional Law Enforcement Advisor, the incumbent will perform the following tasks: • Participate in programme/project planning meetings with UNODC experts, National Government Officials, stakeholders and other partners; • Elaborate and appraise proposals on transnational organized crime and border management projects/programmes; • Provide substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.; undertake outreach activities; conduct training workshops and seminars; make presentations on assigned topics/activities. • Participate in field missions, including provision of guidance to government officials and other parties; drafting of mission summaries and reports; support all action related to maintaining the flow of information on project- and programme-related matters; coordinate activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepare related documents/reports (pledging, work plan, budget, staffing table etc.). • Provide support to the running of day-to-day activities related to the implementation of ongoing projects under the “Comoé Project”.
Qualifications/special skills
High-school Diploma is required. • At least 2 years of work experience required in programme/project formulation, development, execution, implementation or monitoring is required; • Experience in legal research and analysis is required • Experience in UNODC’s regional and integrated programming approach is desirable; • Proven experience in dealing with national and regional counterparts from various cultural backgrounds is desirable; • Previous work experience with the UN or other International Organizations is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
