The Lab Business Development and Specimen Reception Unit oversees all laboratory sample collection centers of icddr,b throughout the city. The unit is responsible for coordinating various aspects of laboratory outreach operations, including client management, registration, billing, sample collection, and report delivery activities.
Brief Description of Position:
The Driver reporting to the Laboratory Officer, will be responsible for driving vehicle to and from designated locations, maintaining Vehicles, keeping records of duty status according to icddr,b Transport Unit’s policies and within the organization’s values and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for following:
- Maintain a checklist before starting and closing of the vehicle on regular basis;
- Check assigned vehicle properly as per icddr,b rules of vehicle inspection before starting work and ensure cleanliness of the vehicle;
- Ensure all equipment allocated to the vehicle including spare tyre and communications equipment such as radios, satellite phones etc. are in good working condition and properly maintained;
- Regularly check all the equipment are in good conditions before undertaking any journey;
- Drive vehicles with caution and ensure passengers safety;
- Abide by BRTA Traffic rules and regulations and also maintain icddr,b driving rules and transport policies;
- Undertake journeys that are authorized by the appropriate PIs/authorities;
- Readily accepts assignment/s beyond work schedules/long trips and be ready to perform any trip in short notice;
- Manage critical situations and equipment related issues to vehicles;
- Perform routine checkup of assigned vehicle;
- Perform major vehicle maintenance works of icddr,b vehicles on demand;
- Identify and solve major problems and maintain the vehicle in proper working condition;
- Escalate issues related to any faults, maintenance needs, incidents/accidents to the supervisor/concerned person for taking necessary measures;
- Complete trip tickets, keep record of fuel consumption, run hour, mileage etc. and maintain vehicle log books/sheets on a regular basis;
- Update all necessary paperwork related to the vehicle (insurance, fitness etc.).
Required qualification and experience:
- S.S.C Passed or equivalent with valid driving license;
- 3 years of experience in driving;
- Very good interpersonal communication skills.

Contract Type and duration:
- Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.
Salary & benefits:
- Tk. 31,807/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
- Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b, and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
