Result of Service
The consultant will be part of a team of colleagues working on protection in the Protection Division in UNRWA headquarters and be supervised by one senior-level member of the Protection Division who will provide regular feedback. The duties and responsibilities will form part of the annual work-plan of the Division and (s)he will be assigned specific tasks with expected outcomes.

Expected duration
• The duration of the consultancy is 2 months (01 Nov 2025- 31 Dec 2025). • The consultant will be remunerated based on the satisfactory deliverables of the agreed activities. • The consultant will be paid the lump sum of $4,000, split into 2 instalments as described above upon satisfactory submission of the deliverables.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliverables: (01 Nov- 30 Nov 2025) protection: - All individual protection requests received through the dedicated mailbox are logged in the tracker; - Support the timely follow-up of urgent protection cases, including liaison with Representative and Liaison Offices, the verification of registration function (RSSD) and Department of Legal Affairs (DLA), preparing draft responses, translation, and other functions as required; Advocacy: - Assist with analyzing data and drafting advocacy products on priority issues identified by the team. - Assist with planning and organization of Protection Advocacy workshop, including logistical arrangements, preparation of agenda and background materials, coordination with participants, etc. - Help support the reporting obligations of the Protection Advocacy team internally and for external reports, including maintaining relevant trackers. (01 Dec - 31 Dec 2025) protection: - All individual protection requests received through the dedicated mailbox are logged in the tracker; - Support the timely follow-up of urgent protection cases, including liaison with Representative and Liaison Offices, the verification of registration function (RSSD) and Department of Legal Affairs (DLA), preparing draft responses, translation, and other functions as required; - Support the drafting of the bi-annual summary report on intprotection case trends (July-Dec2025) Advocacy: - Assist with analyzing data and drafting advocacy products on priority issues identified by the team. - Help support the reporting obligations of the Protection Advocacy team internally and for external reports, including maintaining relevant trackers.
Qualifications/special skills
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree of equivalent) from a recognized university-level academic institution in social sciences, political affairs, international relations, human rights, law, or related field is required. - A minimum of 2 years of relevant international experience in protection, human rights, protection, human rights, humanitarian/relief emergency operations, refugee law, legal aid and assistance or other related discipline (internships, volunteer work, and academic research can be considered as relevant experience) - Demonstrated data analysis skills, including the ability to interpret and visualize data, identify trends and patterns, and provide actionable insights to support decision-making - Strong organizational and coordination skills - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Knowledge of other languages of the UN system is an asset
