Duties and Responsibilities
This internship is designed to be full-time and to be conducted in-person and/or remote and/or hybrid. The modality may be adjusted based on request of the successful candidate and operational relevance. The interns shall provide direct support to the planning, organization and implementation of the Humanitarian Networks and Partnership Week (HNPW) 2026 three-day event in Geneva. Under the supervision of OCHA staff, the selected interns will: • Support the logistical preparation and coordination of the HNPW, including room allocations, scheduling, and liaison with UN conference services. • Assist in event registration and participant management, including outreach, database updates, and on-site support during the event. • Contribute to the coordination of humanitarian networks and partnership meetings, supporting rapporteurs, collating inputs, and preparing meeting summaries. • Provide support in the production and communication of event materials (agendas, participant lists, concept notes, presentations, reports, newsletters, social media content). • Support the management of the event’s digital and communications platforms, including the HNPW event website, virtual meeting tools, email communications, and social media engagement. • Assist with logistics and communications on the ground during the event, including welcoming participants, managing help desks, and ensuring clear information flows. • Contribute to the post-event follow-up, including compilation of reports, drafting communications, analyzing participant feedback, and capturing lessons learned. • Provide support as required to ERS activities beyond HNPW, which may include: - Assisting with the management of the UNDAC roster and coordination of deployments. - Supporting INSARAG activities, such as the preparation of meetings, exercises, and related documentation. - Contributing to JEU projects, such as environmental emergency preparedness and response coordination. - Engaging with Operational Partners to strengthen collaboration and support joint initiatives.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excell, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams is required. Knowledge of event management tools/platform and social media tools an asset. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, as well as good interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse partners. Ability to multitask, prioritize and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for this position. Knowledge of French is desirable.
