Mission and objectives

UNICEF work in Egypt is focused on promoting sustainable development with multidimensional equity for children, embodying the fair chance for every child principle. In line with national priorities, UNICEF work in Egypt focuses on Early Childhood Development bridging the first 1000 days through the first years of formal education, as a key means by which multiple threats to children may be addressed through cross-sectoral linkages. The expected results of UNICEF’s work in Egypt will contribute to national efforts and priorities and the 2030 National Sustainable Development Strategy; as well as the United Nations Partnership for Development Framework (UNPDF 2018-2022). UNICEF’s programme in Egypt contributes to strengthen the knowledge base for more child-sensitive social protection, and improve three fundamental elements of the early childhood years (health, nutrition and development). UNICEF’s work on learning and protection covers all children of all ages, focusing on the most vulnerable children, children with disabilities and adolescent girls.

Context

UNICEF Egypt's Education team works at all levels of pre-university education. We work to improve access to quality early childhood education, improve levels of foundational skills, improve school inclusion and provide alternative non-formal education for those out of schools, such as refugees and migrants, and ensure young people have the skills for their future. We are working to strengthen the education sector through support to the Ministry of Education, advise on curriculum reform, improve effectiveness of digital technology to support learning, and improve school leadership and teaching quality.

Task Description

The UNICEF Egypt Education team is looking for two excellent writer and communicator Online Volunteers - in both Arabic and English - to support the team in documenting and communicating its work in Egypt. The two online volunteers would have support the communications team in producing these deiverables: - Write 5-10 case studies, 5-10 human interest stories, 5-10 articles to post on social media (particularly LinkedIn), and 2 briefing notes. - Develop 5 guidance and templates for the education team to improve the documentation of its work.
