Your responsibilities
The Radio Frequency Group (RF) within CERN's Accelerator Systems Department (SY) is seeking an Applied Physicist/Engineer to join the Superconducting Radio Frequency Cavity Technology section (SRF). You will be part of a small, dedicated team responsible for developing and implementing a new class of non-mechanical tuners for superconducting RF cavities, investigating both standalone cavity and integrated cryomodule solutions.
This is a challenging, multi-disciplinary project where you will take an active role in defining and assessing the integration and performance of a novel RF cavity tuning application. You'll be at the forefront of the development of a new frequency-tuning approach for SRF cavities, working on systems for both discrete RF frequency switching and continuous frequency modulation. Ultimately, your work will be applicable to CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the proposed Future Circular Collider (FCC), and the EU-funded Innovate for Sustainable Accelerating Systems (iSAS) program.
Your activities will include:
This role provides a broad, multidisciplinary environment with a focused team for the development of an accelerator system component, offering significant opportunities for professional growth over a diverse experience base.

What we offer
About us
At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
