Duties and Responsibilities
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. The internship in the International Trade and Integration Division in ECLAC, Santiago, Chile will last 3 to 6 months, depending on the needs of the Office. The intern will support the team in economic research activities of the International Trade Division. Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background and the internship period. Duties may include: · Compiles, research and gather information from a wide variety of sources. · Collects and organize data. · Processing data and statistics. · Identify, interpret, analyze and format data and statistics. · Summarizes pertinent material. · Attending and summarizing conferences and meetings. · Prepares input for electronic databases and the internet. · Prepares charts, graphs and other outputs for reporting and presentation of various data. · Builds special data sets for specific research needs or for reports.
Qualifications/special skills
Minimum education requirement is a HS diploma. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. However, economics or a another field of study closely related to this type of internship that you are applying for is required.
