Banking at the EBRD
The Banking team provides project financing for banks, industries and businesses, investing in projects that could not otherwise attract financing. Every project is tailored to the needs of the client and the country, region or sector in which it operates. Our portfolio is wide-ranging — from green energy and critical infrastructure to food security, capital markets development and digitalisation.
We are a recognised global leader in climate finance. In recent years, much of our activity has focused on supporting resilience in response to major shocks — including the coronavirus pandemic, the ongoing war on Ukraine, and wider geopolitical and economic challenges affecting our regions.
Typically, the EBRD funds up to 35% of a project’s cost, with direct investments ranging from €5 million to €230 million. Beyond financing, through the Small Business Initiative we also connect small and medium-sized enterprises with world-class advice, enabling them to grow, succeed, and drive local and regional development.
A career in EBRD Banking means working with a diverse team of sectoral, regional, legal and environmental specialists. By mobilising donor funds from governments and international institutions, we channel investment capital and expertise where it is most needed — and help local businesses access the support they need to thrive.
