Job Summary

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as an Accounts Payable Specialist to provide accounts payable support in its Finance and Administration Department. This position is a two-year, renewable appointment, based at IFPRI’s office in New Delhi, India. Interested applicants must have work authorization to work in India.

Essential Duties:

  • Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Full-Cycle Accounts Payable (AP) processing including examining, verifying, and reconciling transactions/statements to process payments timely. Ensure proper approvals and documentation for all payments.

  • Research and resolve discrepancies and issues related to vendor invoices or payments.

  • Assist with weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers

  • Reconcile open vendor payables monthly.

  • Review, verify, and reconcile expense reports for compliance. Process employee advance and reimbursement requests.

  • Ensure timely submission of travel credit card expenses. Process and reconcile credit card statements.

  • Communicate with vendors and internal departments to answer payment inquiries and resolve discrepancies.

  • Support AP month-end close, including journal entries and reconciliations.

  • Assist with the processing of the annual 1099s.

  • Provide audit assistance in retrieving documents for auditors to review.

  • Ensure that all established controls are adhered to and evaluate processes and procedures to identify any additional required controls.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or closely related field plus five years of relevant experience; or associate's degree plus seven years of relevant experience.

  • Deltek Costpoint 8.1 experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to consistently process a high volume of transactions.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with work sharing platforms.

  • Strong attention to detail with high organizational skills.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Good oral and written communications skills.

Physical Demand & Work environment:

  • Employee will sit in an upright position for a long period of time

  • Employee will lift between 0-10 pounds.

  • Employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing computer terminal; extensive reading
