Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities: The intern will support the Chief of Staff and the Office of the Chief of Staff in advancing both programmatic and cross-cutting areas that contribute to the implementation of the UNOAU mandate. This includes strengthening the strategic and operational partnership with the African Union in the area of peace and security. The Office of the Chief of Staff is responsible for ensuring the effective direction and management of UNOAU activities in line with the strategic vision and guidance of the SRSG. It includes the Chief of Staff as well as the cross-cutting Strategic Planning, Gender, Women Peace and Security, Press and Public Information, Protocol, and Safety and Security. Under the supervision of the Chief of Staff or his/her designate, the intern will: • Support policy, planning, and mainstreaming efforts across the Office, particularly in relation to Gender, Women, Peace and Security (WPS), strategic communications, information and knowledge management, protocol, and/or strategic planning; • Assist in production of data and visual storytelling on the work of the UNOAU; • Assist with drafting diplomatic correspondence, and internal reports for senior management; • Assist the organization of high-level meetings, workshops, and events, including in collaboration with counterparts in the African Union; • Collaborate with the Press and Public Information Officer on content development, media monitoring, and public outreach; • Contribute to planning and evaluation exercises under the guidance of the Strategic Planning Officer; and/or • Perform other related tasks as assigned to support the cross-cutting management, policy and protocol work of the Chief of Staff.
