About NRC:
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental humanitarian organization with 75 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, food security, livelihoods, legal Assistance, and water, sanitation, and hygiene sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 6000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. NRC runs the world's largest standby roster, NORCAP, with 650 professionals ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs.
NRC in the Islamic Republic of Iran:
NRC started operations in Iran in 2012. We currently deliver humanitarian assistance in 10 provinces in Education, Food Security and livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter construction, as well as Information, Counseling, and Legal Assistance (ICLA). We co-lead several technical inter-agency working groups and provide capacity building to humanitarian partners in the country. Next to our programs, NRC Iran also built an advocacy unit to develop joint messages and initiatives among INGOs to improve the rights of the displaced. Following several recent breakthroughs, NRC Iran is scaling up substantially its activities in support of the Government of Iran's efforts towards an estimated 3,6 million Afghans residing in the country and is expanding its programme unit.
The purpose of the assistant position is to assist in the day-to-day implementation of the food security and livelihoods projects. The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities :
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
- Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action.
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
- Ensure proper filing of documents.
- Promote and share ideas for improvement of the LFS function.
- Identify and report protection needs and gaps, explore and propose new and safer ways to assist.
- Promote the rights of refugees and displaced in line with the advocacy strategy.
Specific responsibilities :
- Assist LFS Team in conducting the activities designed for implementation of Livelihoods and Food Security projects including provision of cash assistance and income generation activities.
- Engagement in beneficiary communication and addressing their queries.
- Conduct field visits in coordination with local authorities and partners.
- Keep record of the projects’ reports, documentation, and archiving.
- Engagement in other required activities for implementation of projects.
- Providing input for continuous improvement of the assessments conducted by NRC.

Generic professional competencies:
- Experience from working as a Project Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:
- University bachelor’s degree preferably in development studies, social sciences, Entrepreneurship, economy, marketing, business administration or other relevant subjects. Lack of relevant education background can be compensated by relevant professional experience.
- At least 1 year of professional working experience and, desirably 1 year of working in entrepreneurship/ business development sector; preferably in the humanitarian sector.
- Previous experience of community-based activities, empowerment and self-reliance of vulnerable groups is an asset
- Experience of working in international organizations is an asset
- Good knowledge of English and native proficiency in Persian, written and spoken
- Fluent in Microsoft office application
- Experience working with refugees in Iran is an asset
