Background
Plan Indonesia has strived for its position as a girls and youth-centered organization since Country Strategy 4 (2017). This means girls and youth are at the centre of what we do including in programming and influencing. We have been campaigning with girls and youth activists on diverse issues that matter to them, such as child marriage, ending sexual violence, online GBV, climate change, by taking momentum in the annual International Day of the Girls' Takeover (IDG-GTO), National Children Day, 16 Days Activism. Since 2023, Plan Indonesia also created PlaNet (Plan Youth Network) as a platform to engage more diverse girls and youth activists throughout Indonesia, as a safe space for them to make movement, campaigning, and advocating issues matter to them, with Plan support.
Beyond programming and influencing, youth engagement is also implemented in the form of the Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) which consists of dozens of girls and youth activists from Jakarta and East Nusa Tenggara, the province where more than 30.000 sponsored children live. YAP’s role is to ensure our work and approach including operational and fundraising activities are relevant to children, girls, and youth. They provide insights and join Plan’s strategic forum and monitor our works to ensuring it address the needs of children, girls and youth.
The Opportunity
To maintain engagement with youth, particularly YAP, and PlaNet, and lead the Plan Indonesia campaign at the national level, we need to recruit a Youth and Campaign Lead. This position will play a leading role in youth engagement and campaign work in Plan Indonesia.
