AMC is currently in the process of launching several new funds providing investors exposure to emerging markets and that are fully aligned with IFC priorities. This role is focused on supporting the new Emerging Markets Sustainability Funds (“EMSF”), innovative funds which provide investors broad based exposure to the emerging markets through an index like approach. Role & Responsibilities:
AMC is looking to hire a Consultant (Associate) to provide ongoing support to the EMSF funds team. The Associate will focus on all operational and project management functions necessary to ensure smooth operations of the funds, including day-to-day fund operations, investor reporting, and process optimization. The Associate will also be expected to take on and support other non-fund-related cross-business projects as part of this role. The position will be based in Washington, D.C. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Day-to-day Fund Operations
• Coordinate with multiple IFC business areas and fund investors as required to help manage day-to-day operations of the fund.
• Review the outcomes of automated deal eligibility checks / tagging in IFC systems to ensure that all eligible investments are correctly identified and tagged for the relevant AMC-managed funds.
• Implement error-correction processes to address any discrepancies in eligibility tagging, including correcting missed eligible investments or removing incorrect tags from ineligible investments and correcting any corresponding transaction data.
• Collaborate with the AMC Finance team to analyze investment portfolio transaction data to ensure accuracy of capital call notices to investors and related payments to IFC.
• Support periodic valuation processes, including validation of underlying data inputs for determining fair value for the relevant investments in AMC-managed fund portfolios.
Investor Reporting
• On a quarterly basis, working with relevant IFC teams and systems, curate, and coordinate investor reporting packages with information on fund portfolio, valuation, impact reporting, and other investor reporting deliverables.
• Ensure investor reporting is delivered in a timely manner, is of high quality, and is in compliance with commitments made to investors.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and validate data for reporting purposes.
• Manage internal and external communication to ensure all stakeholders are aware of progress and contribute towards the target completion dates.
Process Optimization
• Explore opportunities to improve fund operations and investor reporting processes, including automation.
• Assist in developing and implementing data quality control processes and procedures.
• Support the development/improvement of the funds policies and procedures.
• Partner with IT, financial operations, accounting, valuation, and legal teams to ensure that any new product features or reporting requirements can be effectively operationalized.
• Support new business or product development efforts to ensure design features are thought through operationally, implemented in time, and that staff are appropriately trained.
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate is likely to have worked for an investment bank, private equity firm, and/or consulting firm, preferably in middle office/fund administration, financial product development or a similar function with a focus on emerging markets. He/she will have experience with valuation, fund operations, and investor reporting. He/she will possess familiarity with international best market practices in fund operations and reporting; The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
• M.B.A. or master’s degree in a relevant field with at least six years of relevant experience.
• Proven track record in middle office/fund administration within asset management, financial product development, or a similar function is preferred.
• Strong funds experience and knowledge of fund structures across different asset classes, ideally needs to be familiar with direct Private Equity and Fund of Funds.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand, compare, and interpret complex data sets to verify that system processes have correctly produced data according to pre-defined rules.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to organize, track, and manipulate large volumes of data and analytical outputs.
• Proven critical thinking skills, particularly in navigating challenges related to the newly implemented EMSF Program and its interface with the organization's systems and teams.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and well-organized, able to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Collaborator with strong interpersonal skills who can work across time zones to support staff and investors globally. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required, including a demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and tactfully to a variety of audiences.
• Proficiency in Excel and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
