OPPORTUNITY SUMMARY: WI is currently seeking a consultant with expertise in GESI who possesses knowledge of gender and inclusion issues within the wildlife conservation sector. The consultant will advise the project design team on key interventions, strategies, and best practices for meaningfully integrating GESI into coastal and marine conservation. The recommendations will inform the design of a proposal in response to USAID/India Coastal and Marine Conservation Activity (CMCA). The overall goal of the activity is: Improved health of coastal and marine ecosystems and the wellbeing of communities that depend on them. The Activity will potentially focus on the following areas: Strengthen the management of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and their network, including conservation of endangered, threatened, and protected (ETP) species. Enhance the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of coastal areas and associated seascapes. Increase the resilience of coastal communities. Increase knowledge and data generation, sharing, and packaging to support sustainable management of coastal and marine ecosystems. Improve opportunities and leadership roles for women and youth in coastal communities. Enhance sustainable financing models to support effective conservation. This assignment m is expected to require up to 7 days. Travel is not required. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Carefully review all related background documents. Conduct a GESI literature review using tools and templates (i.e., GESI Integration Table) provided by Winrock’s Senior GESI Technical Lead. Lead a 1-hour session with the design team to share key findings and recommended interventions and identify practical implications for programmatic design. If needed, provide additional technical support in the interventions once the bid is live or during any co-creation stages. Key findings from the literature review should be organized in a table and include specific interventions that align with each objective/result described in the request for information (RFI) for this activity. Facilitation of a 1-hour design team session. During the meeting, the consultant will review key findings and recommended interventions with the design team. Technical Design Session If needed, the consultant will attend the technical design session with the design team and recommend specific interventions. QUALIFICATIONS: Strong demonstrated qualitative data analysis skills. Strong demonstrated experience conducting GESI analyses and/or GESI-related research. Strong demonstrated experience addressing GESI issues in coastal conservation and marine conservation. Experience applying intersectional feminist research methodologies is a plus. Demonstrated experience designing and/or implementing coastal conservation and marine conservation sector programs. Experience providing GESI technical support to development programs is a plus Working knowledge of USAID gender and social inclusion requirements. EDUCATION: A minimum of a master’s degree and 8 years of experience, a Ph.D. and 6 years of experience, a bachelor’s degree and 10 years of experience, an associate degree and 12 years of experience, or a high school diploma and 14 years of experience. Degree in International Development, gender and development, social science, or a related field. SKILLS: Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving, conflict, and ethical management skills.
