BACKGROUND
IUCN, represented by its Bangladesh Country Office, is implementing a project entitled “Urban Living Labs ” funded by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The objective of the project is the implementation of Urban Living Labs in 4 selected cities (Khulna/Rajshahi/Sirajgonj/Satkhira) in Bangladesh. The project aims to facilitate participatory planning in 4 cities to design, implement and monitor demonstration projects. Based on implemented demonstration projects, four city administrations have each developed an integrated management model for the provision of inclusive and climate-sensitive services in urban environmental management.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the overall guidance from the Country Representative of IUCN Bangladesh and the Programme Manager, Species and Habitats, the Programme Assistant – City Coordinator will undertake following specific responsibilities:

1. Support to implement all protect activities independently at the field offices in the project area
2. Assist in selection of neighborhoods as well as establishing and functioning of Urban Living Labs in the project area;
3. Assist in organizing and mobilizing stakeholders for the formation of the Urban Living Labs;
4. Assist in the selection, and maintaining communication with selected stakeholders in formation and functioning of the Urban Living Labs;
5. Assist in organizing participatory workshops, awareness campaigns, capacity building workshops, and implementation of desired and determined interventions at field level in project area;
6. Assist in monitoring and evaluation of the interventions being implemented in the field level;
7. Maintain communication and liaison with relevant stakeholders and local government offices;
8. Provide programme and administrative support to the programme team in the preparation of various programme-related documents such as work plans, budgets, reports, and proposals related to programme implementation activities;
9. With the guidance of the line manager, put together briefing materials and prepare reports, power-point and other presentations for the programme unit;
10. Assist the project team to ensure that all project reports and all other committed deliverables are produced, submitted and accepted by the donor in a timely manner as per the Agreement;

Undertake any other tasks that may be assigned by the Country Representative, and the Programme Manager, Species and Habitats of IUCN Bangladesh and project manager, from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS
• Master’s in Urban and Regional/Rulal Planning/Zoology/Wildlife/Botany/ Environmental Science and
Engineering/ Architecture (Urban design and landscape) or any related field, with 1-year related working
experience,
or Bachelors degree in any of the above disciplines with 2 years of related working experience


• Experience in working with urban local government institutions (City Corporation, Pourashavas), local communities and stakeholders, threatened species, birds and biodiversity work will be preferred.

• Excellent presentation, writing and spoken communication skills in English & Bangla are essential.
