Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Economic Recovery Assistant – Wage Employment

About the Job

This role involves supporting the Team Leader and Economic Recovery Officer- Wage Employment for the quality implementation of economic recovery intake, facilitation of long-term job creation through wage subsidies (WS), on-the-job training, job placement, and market linkage activities and other project activities within the scope of the economic recovery program with a focus on employability in close coordination with private sector and monitoring visits.

Geographic scope: Hatay Field Office

This role has a field focus on Hatay province in the effective implementation of early recovery activities responsible for full compliance with DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of early recovery strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks.

Main responsibilities

General Programming & Operations & Interaction with partner (80%)

  • Implement intake sessions with potential project participants from refugee and host communities in Hatay province
  • Assist Employability officer in business mapping to identify eligible private sector entities to be collaborated in wage subsidy, on-the-job training, job placement, and market linkage activities.
  • Assist the Economic Recovery Officer – Wage Employment in communication with private sector companies/representatives, municipality and other stakeholders to identify Economic Recovery opportunities.
  • In line with market information/data collected and analyzed, support the economic recovery team to implement wage subsidy and on-the-job training activities.
  • Act as a focal point for project participants and lead the communication with project participants to share information, conduct follow-ups, and other project requirements under the supervision of the Team Leader.
  • Engage in outreach activities related to the project (with community members, local NGOs, and private sector contacts) and assist in maintaining an updated stakeholders’ database.
  • Assist the Economic Recovery Officer – Wage Employment in project participant identification, selection, and placement on relevant activities as well as in attendance monitoring and initiation of timely replacements in term of decent employment approach.
  • Contribute to the organization of regular program monitoring for Ec-Rec activities through site monitoring visits, adaptation sessions and FGDs, assure proper utilization and documentation of program monitoring tools, and prepare reports on the findings with action plans.
  • Support economic recovery officer – wage employment in the collection of necessary MoVs and supportive documents from parties collaborated in program schemes and in the maintenance of well-organized documentation of program activities.
  • Share the weekly work plan with the employability officer, who will submit it to the team leader based on the scheduled tasks.
  • In coordination with the economic recovery officer – wage employment and team leader, coordinate with the private sector companies, private sector representatives, municipality the day-to-day activities of wage employment component activities which include communication of opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned. In addition, contribute to the development of program activities led by the component Manager and Team Leader.
  • Support data collection of any assessment/research that may arise during the duration of the program.
  • Keep an active private sector engagement to identify collaboration opportunities for facilitation of job creation, and job placement with work permit support.
  • Support Economic Recovery Officer- Self Employment when needed and other activities required for the project assigned by the line manager.

Monitoring and Evaluation (%10)

  • Review MEAL reports produced for the activities under responsibility; contribute to development of actions plans and suggestion of appropriate corrective actions.
  • Execute approved corrective actions under the supervision of Team Leader and Employability Officer.
  • Facilitate the communication between MEAL team and beneficiaries to assure timely implementation of MEAL plans and market mapping related activities.
  • Support Economic Recovery teams on field-level project assessments and mappings when needed.

Technical Support (%5)

  • Assist the employability officer in ensuring that all parties collaborate in on-the-job training and WS schemes, produce quality reports, share necessary documents with DRC per pre-determined terms, and extend guidance to ensure compliance.

Coordination (%5)

  • Under the supervision of Team Leader and Manager, proactively seek, assess, and report new opportunities in regard to activities under the responsibility
  • Promote and ensure an active private sector engagement and networking with relevant national authorities to contribute to effective implementation of DRC programs

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have high school or university degree in business administration, economics, marketing, trade, social science and related fields.

Required experience and competencies

Minimum requirements:

  • At least one year of relevant professional experience working for an NGO in the early recovery/livelihood sector.
  • Experience in market research and analysis
  • Experience in business administration and business development.
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Experience with following standard procedures and guidelines
  • Experience working in the field (preferably experience from southern Turkiye)
  • Fluency in Turkish and Arabic, English is a strong asset.
  • Experience with private sector and Hatay field is a strong asset.
  • Turkish Nationality
