Duties and Responsibilities
The intern will contribute to the employment unit of the economic development division. Preparation of a database for the estimation of labor demand that considers the main variables of the labor market for 18 Latin American countries, period 1990 - 2023. The variables to be considered are for the total economy and for 9 sectors of activity. economic; number of employed persons, economic activity, exchange rate, cost of capital and remuneration indicator. The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations. It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development. Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities. The internship in the employment unit of the economic development division will last 2 to 6 (2 min/6 max) months, depending on the needs of the Office. Qualifications/special skills
1 Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. 2 Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Languages
Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
