Action Against Hunger is well known for its expertise in Nutrition and Health. It started working in Afghanistan in 1995. Its very first mission, has seen a strong focus on emergency responses, targeting primarily refugees, Internally Displaced Persons, and flood/drought affected populations. Integrated projects in Nutrition and Health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Food Security and Livelihoods, and in Mental Health and Care Practices are implemented . Our work with local partners is essential to gain access to more geographical areas.
The recent political development that followed a period of drought and heavy fighting has plunged the country into an even more profound crisis in the economic aspect, includingthe shutdown of the financial institutions, the suspension of international structural funding, and fears of food shortage and higher inflation.
In 2023, two-thirds of Afghanistan’s population need urgent humanitarian assistance to survive as the countryenters its third consecutive year of drought-like conditions and the second year of crippling economic decline while still reeling from the effects of 40 years of conflict and recurrent natural disasters. The mission employs 697 staff in five operational bases : Kabul, Helmand, Ghor, Daikundi, and Badakhshan. ACF teams address the underlying conditions leading to deadly malnutrition and food insecurity and provideaccess to basic health services.
We are looking for our new Grants and Partnerships Coordinator based in Afghanistan. You will develop and manage efficiently grant, proposal and partnerships, report qualitatively, optimize grants and management processes and build strong partnerships.
More precisely, your role will be to :
You will travel within Afghanistan, which may often require visiting and working in remote and low-resource environments.
You hold a Bachelor degree in humanitarian aid, international relations, or related fields with a significant field experience in humanitarian programmes and/or within international NGOs, and ideally an experience working in a consortium structure.
You are flexible and able to work independently under pressure with tight deadlines. You can also adapt quickly to fast pace complex dynamics.
You have successfully written and reported for a variety of donors and you have strong analytical skills and logical thinking, with an attention to details. You have good knowledge of donor guidelines and regulations (ECHO, EU, FCDO, OCHA, UNDP/UNICEF, USAID/BHA, SIDA, Country Based pool funds and private foundations).
You have good knowledge in at least one of the following cross-cutting issues: Gender (Gender analysis), Conflict sensitivity, and Partnership management. Ideally, you know key program areas (nutrition, health, mental health care practices - gender-protection, WASH, food security, livelihoods, DRR).
You are particularly good at communicating, with excellent English writing skills.
You are diplomatic, with also a firm approach to obtain buy-in and contributions from a range of staff involved in proposal and report production. You are pragmatic and results-oriented, creative and out-of-the-box thinker.
