The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. We work at the invitation of governments to support them and the private sector to create and sustain high-quality health systems.


CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work in conjunction with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. With each new and innovative program, our strategy is grounded in maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and learnings are shared globally.

Position Overview


CHAI has launched an ambitious effort to scale-up access to treatment for oral rehydration solution (ORS) and zinc. Working with the governments and leading global institutions, CHAI’s Essential Medicines team is supporting intensified efforts at both global and country levels to plan, resource, and implement effective interventions for scaling-up access to ORS/zinc for diarrhea.


CHAI’s Essential Medicines global team is seeking a Program Coordinator to provide program management, operations, and finance support. The Program Coordinator will help ensure that robust operational systems and processes are in place to facilitate the team’s programmatic efforts. They will be responsible for leading the coordination of donor reporting, provide administrative and logistical support to the team, produce communication materials about the program for internal and external audiences, and work closely with the Associate Director of Finance & Operations to support financial management and budgeting. The Program Coordinator will report to the Program Director.

The position is to be based remotely in the United States. The expected amount of travel for this position is 5-10%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead meeting planning and coordination, support recruitment and onboarding of new staff members, update program communication materials, maintain knowledge management platforms, and manage software licenses
  • Develop internal management and donor reporting templates, and manage processes for completion of templates
  • Ensure knowledge flow for team, including the sharing of information and knowledge across CHAI teams
  • Support development of subrecipient contracts, processing of invoices, tracking of payments, and monitoring of contract spend against budget
  • Write, edit, and format reports and presentations
  • Plan and attend team meetings, including assisting in the arrangements of hotels, tracking related expenses and agendas for team meetings
  • Develop and maintain administrative resources to facilitate efficient operations across the program (contact lists, calendar, website, etc.)
  • Manage and organize program documents, data, and files
  • Provide thought partnership with the Program Director to improve operational efficiency and a positive team culture
  • Perform other tasks as necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 2 years of work experience in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to write in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to promote consensus and resolve issues in a proactive manner, while ensuring effective work practices and ethics
  • Demonstrates empathy, sensitivity, and a genuine desire to build close and productive working relationships with people from different cultures and geographies
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, including ability to work independently, self-motivate, and propose and implement new initiatives
  • Ability to be effective in high-pressure situations, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and set priorities
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization skills
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Strong work ethic, supported by commitment and follow-through
