Job Description
Result of Service
1) Prepare training materials and revise them for the development of regional workshops on PCB; 2) Assist and deliver presentations on at least 3 of the regional workshops on PCB environmentally sound management that will be organized within the PCB project implemented by the BRS Secretariat; 3) Develop a strategy to collect information for the global assessment, including necessary materials; 4) Revise the collection format and support the Secretariat on the collection and assessment on information provided by Parties and others on the national and regional capacities for storage, treatment, and final disposal of PCB, including engagement with relevant stakeholders; 5) Prepare a first, second and final report with a global assessment of the capacity, operation conditions and location of interim storage, treatment and final disposal capacities for the treatment of PCB; 6) Attend and support the meeting of the Small Intersessional Working Group (SIWG) on PCB, established under the Stockholm Convention to be held in 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities
As per the Project objectives, the consultant is expected to: 1. Support the development of regional workshops on PCB within the project activities (project output 1.2); 2. Develop a draft report on a global assessment of the capacity, operation conditions and location of interim storage, treatment and final disposal capacities for the treatment of PCB (project output 3.1).
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in science, environment, or related discipline or similar field is required. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of relevant professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in the field of chemicals and/or waste management is required; Knowledge of the Stockholm Convention, its provisions and processes under the Convention is required; Experience in working on the issues related to persistent organic pollutants, in particular PCB and waste management related to the Stockholm Convention is required; Expert knowledge of management and assessment of industrial chemicals throughout their lifecycle is desirable; Experience in analyzing inventory data and developing publications of a technical nature within the context of the United Nations is desirable.
Languages
Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required, including strong drafting, and writing skills.
