UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary provides services to UNICEF offices globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology.

How can you make a difference?

UNICEF is seeking candidates to support the HR Administration Section as Human Resources Associates at the GS-6 level in the Global Shared Services Centre in Budapest, Hungary. Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Officer/Specialist, the Human Resources Associates are responsible for the various range of activities for the personnel administration, benefits and entitlements of staff in accordance with the UN Staff Rules and Regulations and UNICEF's policies and procedures.

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

• Process complex requests or transactions in different systems, ensuring that they are in accordance with the internal rules, regulations, processes and procedures
• Answer various queries including complex situations applying best business practice and client orientation
• Identify areas for continuous improvement and partner on projects / initiatives for building efficiencies at the GSSC and enhancing client experience
• Verify actions and updates in systems, and support maintaining accurate HR, staff, and personnel data 
• Proactively reach out to client offices and staff members to ensure that communication and expectations are clear
• Analyze and review processes and procedures and contribute to the development and revision of the respective documents, including Standard Operating Procedures, process instructions and other documents and participate in other related projects
• Alert managers of complex issues and recommend solutions
• Review, and update training materials and/or internal tools and documents to facilitate GSSC HR Administration’s work
• Support HR Assistants of HR Administration by training and couching them on various processes, systems, rules, and regulations

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

• Completion of secondary education (i.e., high school diploma) is a minimum requirement.
• University level courses in human resources, business administration or related field are desirable.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in human resources for candidates holding Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in human resources, business administration or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in human resources for candidates without university degrees.
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of Products (including MS Word, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint) is required.
• Previous hands-on experience in planning, organizing and delivering administrative support services is highly desirable.
• Work experience with a development organization is an asset.
• Knowledge of UN/UNICEF'S rules, regulations and procedures is considered an asset.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
• Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.
