POSITION TITLE: Gender Equality and Social inclusion (GESI) Lead, India Strengthening Landscape Management and Conservation LOCATION: New Delhi, India GROUP: Forestry & Natural Resource Management REPORTS TO: Chief of Party GENERAL: Winrock is accepting applications for the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Lead for the upcoming USAID/India Strengthening Landscape Management and Conservation (SLMC) opportunity. The GESI Lead will work across all program areas to ensure that context-specific strategies are wholistically integrated to ensure the participation in and benefit from program activities by marginalized and vulnerable populations. This position is contingent on receipt of donor funding. This position will be based in New Delhi, India. The five-year project Activity will work in concert with the Government of India (GoI) to enhance the management of ecological landscapes for biodiversity conservation, human well-being and climate benefits, contributing to reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved carbon sequestration, and enhanced environmental benefits for the country. Through this activity, USAID/India and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) will strengthen management practices in targeted landscapes by: (1) improving the management of protected areas and their corridors for wildlife conservation and other ecological benefits; (2) improving inclusive livelihoods from ecosystem services and (3) strengthening the conditions for institutionalizing landscape conservation. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of the project’s GESI strategy and related activities; ensure that all project activities and approaches holistically integrate GESI principles and reduce the specific barriers faced by women, youth, and marginalized groups. Collaborate with experts, project beneficiaries, community leaders, public and private sector actors, and other key stakeholders to identify opportunities for inclusive and context-specific intervention opportunities including activities, capacity building, and external and internal learning. Lead the design and implementation of continuous, context specific GESI analysis as well as the integration of learnings into the project’s GESI policy, principles, and strategy. Develop and regularly update the project’s GESI Action Plan and activity-specific guidelines on the incorporation of GESI principles. Serve as a resource and mentor project and partner staff on GESI; conduct training sessions and refresher workshops on GESI issues, principles, and opportunities. Coordinate and promote discussions on best practices and learning with external stakeholders. Establish and maintain productive relationships with government officials and civil society organizations representing the interests of marginalized and vulnerable populations. Prepare reports and track implementation progress. Support the integration of GESI content into communication materials (posters, scripts for radio or television, documentaries, success stories, etc.), and integrate GESI-related highlights and “success stories” for technical reports. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree in international development, education, gender and inclusion, sociology, or related fields. Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in social inclusion programming, such as youth and female empowerment, inclusion of persons with disabilities and minority populations. Knowledge and experience in GESI programming under counter trafficking in persons, human rights, labor rights, migration, community development and gender equality and social inclusion. Strong understanding of issues faced by marginalized populations related to human trafficking and human rights. Experience in conducting assessments, monitoring and evaluation, strong analysis and writing reports. Practical experience and knowledge of community-based safeguarding and protection approaches, including experience in participatory approaches and methodologies. Direct experience in Central Indian Landscapes in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra is preferred. Previous experience working in USAID projects preferred. SKILLS: Commitment to the principles of inclusive approaches to programming that encourages full participation of individuals regardless of gender, disability, status, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or other marginalized status. Strong communication, writing, and public speaking skills. Strong management, communication, and negotiation skills with ability to coordinate and liaise with multiple partners and stakeholders to collect and share data.
