Position Overview

The Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) works with a global network of partners to build a dynamic and financially sustainable industry that makes clean cooking accessible to families around the world. Established in 2010, CCA supports the development, sale, distribution, and consistent use of clean cooking solutions that transform lives by improving health, protecting the climate and environment, and helping families save time and money. The Private sector & Investment Officer will work under the supervision of the Senior Private Sector & Relationship Manager across the Haiti Program. This role may grow within CCA’s Market Ecosystem Program. The time allocation across programs will be established according to the CCA’s needs and priorities.
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing support to venture and ecosystem building programs and will play a crucial role in implementing CCA’s Venture-level engagements to support entrepreneurs.
CCA is looking for candidates who can effectively assist the various teams in building innovative and scalable companies and Ecosystem-level engagements to develop market intelligence, analytical tools, events, and other initiatives that contribute to accelerating universal access to cleaner cooking solutions.

This is a full-time position based in U.S. remote or Haiti.


Essential Functions

  • Working with senior staff to develop a strong pipeline of good quality investment opportunities
  • Developing training for staff, and enterprises to reinforce capacity
  • Supporting the Senior Private Sector & Investment Manager in the implementation of targeted projects in support of the strategy
  • Supporting enterprises with the development of concept notes/proposals
  • Coordinating with the Senior Manager for the improvement of processes, systems and tools, including marketing, communications and outreach initiatives
  • Developing innovative and appropriate financial structures for our portfolio grantees
  • Identifying and evaluate opportunities to increase the impact of new or portfolio projects
  • Conduct needs’ assessments to identify technical assistance opportunities for HCCF grantees
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, businesses, and financial institutions to further develop the sector and to develop specific investment opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent qualification preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with the private sector, providing technical assistance, and developing financial products that fit the needs of entrepreneurs
  • Knowledge of relevant industry sector trends, experience in emerging markets preferred
  • Strong financial and credit skills
  • Demonstrated ability to structure a variety of financial instruments (debt and equity)
  • Business development and client relationship skills
  • Track record and ability to focus on clients’ needs effectively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in French; working knowledge of Haitian Creole preferred
  • Strong inter-personal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds
  • Highly motivated, committed to highest ethical standards
  • Willingness to travel 15-20% of the time
  • Ability to align working hours with Washington, DC or Haiti
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle stress
  • Ability to meet regular attendance/tardiness policy
