  1. Role and responsibilities

The purpose of a Finance Coordinator is to implement delegated area of responsibility.

Generic responsibilities

  1. Implement and strengthen NRC’s systems and procedures at area level
  2. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, handbooks, guidelines and donor and South Sudan requirements
  3. Prepare and submit reports and analysis as required
  4. Ensure proper filing of all support documents
  5. Support line managers in procedures and require support team trainings
  6. Management of support team
  7. Ensure that the accounting, monitoring and reporting are according to procedures
  8. Support project staff in financial matters
  9. Maintain budget control and monitor cash flow for the area
  10. Ensure development and implementation of administrative systems and procedures

Specific responsibilities

  • Develop the monthly budget Vs Actual reporting for project managers
  • Ensure accurate and verified postings at field level
  • Verify and approve expenses related to particular grants by participating in bid committee
  • Liaise with Juba country finance office for timely staff salary, supplier payments and fund request for area
  • Develop, finalize and update the area master support budget regularly
  • Build the capacity of staff as supervised and make sure delegation of roles and responsibilities are clear at the finance department
  • Undertake proposal and grant application reviews to assess compliance with NRC and donor guidelines
  • Participate in the closure of  projects
  • Other duties as assigned by line manager

By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  • All departments: Make sure that all the departments’ heads generally aware of financial procedure and abiding with process
  • Program staff: Provide timely and technical support to all the program and support
  • HR department: Particularly in relation to payroll.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Degree or Diploma in the field of Accounting or Business Administration and Finance
  • Previous experience working with other NGO’s on finance related issues
  • Must be able to prioritize and have excellent multitasking, documentation and reporting skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills, diplomatic and self-directed.
  • High-level competency in computer skills (common Microsoft Windows and Office applications)
  • Proven communication, interpersonal, representation, negotiation and leadership skills
  • Fluent speaker of Arabic is an added advantage.
