The OQ is seeking to recruit a Senior Economic Development Associate (EDA) to contribute to the implementation of OQ’s development agenda. The senior associate will support the work of the Movement and Trade Team to implement the objectives set in the trade sector strategy.

Specifically, the Senior Economic Development Associate will contribute to the following areas:

  1. Project Management and Delivery;

  2. Project Communication and Outreach;

  3. Research, Analysis, Writing and Editing;

  4. Presentation and Communication Support;

The Senior EDA will deliver his/her contributions to the following areas (under the overall leadership and in full coordination with the Movement and Trade Director):

Project Management and Delivery

  1. Lead one or more trade development/trade facilitation work streams of an OQ priority project including contributing to work stream/strategy development

  2. Propose and agree on outputs with direct advisor and deliver workstreams outputs on time and within tolerances according to the agreed strategy taking into consideration adapting to changing of information.

  3. Prepare planning documents for the priority projects as necessary.

  4. Assist with the procurement process for relevant consultancies, including the TORs development.

Project Communication and Outreach

  1. Contribute to meetings with internal and external stakeholders regularly, to discuss project progress and planned outputs.

  2. Prepare documents reports, emails, and presentation to be shared with project stakeholders.

Research, Analysis, and Writing:

  1. Prepare and conduct research, analysis, literature reviews and other written inputs related to the trade priority projects.

  2. Prepare draft reports, papers, briefs, and memos that formulate discussions on issues relevant to the OQ’s strategic objectives, as required

  3. Provide support in drafting the Movement and Trade sections of the OQ report to the AHLC, the OQ annual report, and donor reports.

  4. Assist in providing feedback on papers and reports related to the project.

Presentation and Communication Support:

  1. Assist OQ Advisors and Management in developing a variety of presentations both in response to movement and trade project needs and other OQ priorities.

  2. Prepare draft materials for internal and external meetings, as required.

  3. Prepare briefing notes on priority projects for external meetings with stakeholders


Education:

Advanced degree (MA or PhD) is preferred. A first level university degree with 2 additional years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work experience:
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience required in movement and trade relevant areas.

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in working with international community organizations, in particular the development branches.

  • Language Requirements:

    • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

    • Knowledge of Arabic and/or Hebrew is an asset.

The contract for this position will be issued by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) on behalf of its Client the Office of Quartet pursuant to an agreement between both parties whereby the successful candidate's contractual rights and responsibilities will be managed by the Office of Quartet (OQ) office and not by UNOPS.

Contract duration: 3 MONTHS, subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds and satisfactory performance
