Job Description

Winrock International’s Agriculture, Resilience, and Water Team is seeking a Program Officer to support our global portfolio of international agriculture development projects aimed at improving food security and resilience for target populations. The Program Officer will provide home office backstopping to Winrock’s international development programs focused on:

  • Providing access to improved extension and business development services;
  • Increasing agriculture productivity through climate smart agricultural practices;
  • Scaling innovation and technology;
  • Reducing food loss and waste through improved post-harvest handling, storage, and cold chain investments; and
  • Improving smallholder farmers’ access to

The position will be responsible for independently managing processes and systems related to contract management, compliance, financial management and budgeting, procurement, and hiring and managing personnel and consultants. The Program Officer provides critical response to the Chief of Party and field-based personnel to support and facilitate project implementation. In addition to project management, the position plays a crucial role in business development, contributing to program design and managing proposal development. The position is ideal for someone with program management experience who is looking for a growth opportunity linking program management with program design and technical implementation.



  • Passion for international food systems, food security, water, agricultural development, economic growth, and/or climate smart
  • Strong organizational skills for home office management of financial and operational
  • Task-oriented individual who can manage defined tasks and roles with minimal guidance or
  • Critical thinking for strengthening program management
  • Working collaboratively across a diverse team located throughout the United States, Asia, and
  • Interpersonal skills for managing relationships throughout the
  • Ambitious advocate for international development who is looking to gain more experience and opportunity to move up in a globally recognized leader in agricultural
  • Periodic travel to project locations across Africa and Asia.
